Pan Aust Limited (“Pan Aust”) is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold producer in Laos, with pre-development and exploration assets in Laos, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Chile. This is an opportunity to join Pan Aust during an exciting period of revitalising its development opportunity pipeline as well as analysing external growth options.

Our Assets

In Laos, Pan Aust’s subsidiary, Phu Bia Mining Limited, operates the Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operations. Both are world-class, award-winning operations with strong operational, safety and sustainability credentials.

In PNG, Pan Aust owns the Frieda River Copper-Gold Project, one of the largest known undeveloped copper and gold deposits in the world. The project will help to supply the copper required to facilitate the renewable energy transition. Frieda River is a sustainable, nation-building project which includes the development of a hydropower facility and public infrastructure that will advance one of the least developed regions in PNG.

In Chile, Pan Aust owns 100% of the Carmen copper gold project and 66% of the Inca de Oro copper gold project. Both are promising pre-development assets, which are being progressed by Pan Aust.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Group Manager Strategy & Investments, the Valuations Manager is to lead valuation activities that drive value-based investment decisions and provide market insights to support strategic direction.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Manages the financial modelling and valuations activities for the Pan Aust Group. This includes being the custodian for mergers, acquisitions and divestments as well capital / development project valuations and models
Mentors and leads Analysts responsible for financial modelling for life of mine, budgets and projects and other investments across the business
Provide guidance on financial modelling and valuation best practices, techniques, and methodologies
Sythesises valuations insights to determine the financial robustness of investments and optimise the value of Pan Aust Group’s portfolio of assets
Analyses global trends and macroeconomic conditions to analyse implications for Pan Aust Group’s portfolio and use this knowledge when reviewing and interpreting valuations models
Develops investment insights, analysis and recommendations for the Group Manager Strategy & investments

To be successful in this role, you will require:
Relevant tertiary degree qualifications in finance, engineering, economics, or related discipline.
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience with economic and financial modelling and investment portfolio management.
Proven leadership experience, managing a small team.
Experience in investment banking is highly desirable.
Experienced with mergers, acquisitions, divestments and funding processes and structures.
Experience in the development of the inputs and economic evaluation of projects.
Proficient user of MS Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project)
