About your new role

Key Deliverables of the position:

Provide subject-matter expertise, coaching and mentoring to leaders, key personnel and operational staff as required within the relevant Business Units to achieve Council’s WHS targets and strategic objectives.
Enable management to achieve consistent implementation of Council’s WHS management systems, monitor and reviews risk profiles, reduction improvements and the effectiveness of risk controls in all environments through partnering and support.
Coach, enable and motivate peers, key stakeholders, and workers to effectively implement and embed WHS processes, targeted HSE programs and initiatives and programs to support improved WHS performance.
Support and participate in activities that assist in meeting contemporary contractor management WHS duties as prescribed by Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and City of Gold Coast policies.
Facilitate incident investigations and development of corrective actions.
Undertake WHS inspections and auditing to provide assurance of compliance with the WHS Management System.

We're looking for people who have:

We're seeking an effective communicator with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships. The successful candidate will have minimum Certificate IV in WHS and /or demonstrated equivalent WHS experience and knowledge. You must demonstrate a personal commitment to health, safety and environment and support a diverse and inclusive workplace It is desirable to have Knowledge in the application of HOP and Learning Teams. You will be able to work well in a team environment, supporting others and be able to work autonomously and be flexible in your approach to work.

To be successful in this position we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual with:

Experience in a similar role providing in-field WHS advice and coaching.
Experience in construction and/or maintenance environment will be highly regarded.
Demonstrated experience in collaborative and consultation processes at a professional level.
Demonstrated interpersonal communications skills, in particular a conversational approach to learnings and insights about work as done.
Demonstrated written communications and IT skills.
Ability to work as a member of a team.
Familiarity with Donesafe or similar safety reporting systems
Good time management and recording /reporting skills
