Climate Net Zero Program Lead

We are looking for a Climate Net Zero Program Lead who is proactive, dynamic and passionate about environment to join us in our Environmental Sustainability team (Switzerland or Belgium).
About the role
The Climate Net Zero Program Lead will be responsible for driving UCB’s tactical initiatives towards achieving net zero carbon emissions as defined and validated by Sciences Based target UCB’s dossier. This role involves working with cross-functional teams, developing and implementing GHG emissions reduction programme and tactics, and ensuring roadmap delivers as plan. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, sustainability, project management and change management with a passion for driving impactful change.
Who you’ll work with
You will work with a team of 6 passionate environmentalist from diverse background and countries (from France, Belgium, Argentina, Switzerland) that have been working at UCB from 15 years or joined us a year ago.
What you’ll do
- You translate UCB’s Net Zero climate ambition and strategy into tactics and robust programs by identifying and evaluating opportunities for carbon reduction across the company’s operations. You define precise, achievable annual departmental targets that align and contribute to UCB ambition and pave the way for a fair climate transition. You develop comprehensive transition plans securing the support and adherence of internal stakeholders to deliver.
- You establish a suite of leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that provide a balanced view of our progress and trigger for improvement. You implement a dynamic dashboarding system to make climate Net Zero performance metrics readily accessible and ensure adherence to use (with a strong focus on emissions related to behaviours as business travel, commuting, car fleet, supplier selection) for supporting our transition plan and fostering a culture of sustainable continuous improvement.
- You stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in energy and carbon management and implementing innovative solutions to enhance UCB’s sustainability performance and represent UCB in industry working group aiming at decarbonizing the value chain.
- You develop and lead workstreams and change management journey to enhance actions on climate change mitigation and resilience, coordinate to meet project milestones, and lead major projects if necessary.
- You ensure compliance with relevant climate regulations and standards, prepare meaningful reports for the head of environmental sustainability and UCB’s green steering committee. You build additional governance if needed to ensure roadmap to reach our objective is delivering (accountability of outcomes, securing resource, part of business decision and business process).
- You collaborate with various departments to integrate environmental practices into business operations and engaging internal stakeholders for collaborative efforts towards net zero carbon.

- Dynamic and passionate about environmental protection.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in French or Dutch is a plus.
