The Accounting Technician, reporting to the Team Lead of Brokerage Finance, is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of our revenue data related to counterparty reporting, the timely and accurate filing of Sales Taxes, remitting premium payments to Insurance Carriers and following up with clients on outstanding invoices for the Brokerage Division.
What you will do:

• Analyze and assess the data reported to us by Insurance Carriers and compare our internal records to identify discrepancies, and address by collaborating with our Brokerage Service team to ensure the accuracy of our records
• Perform daily operations relating to accounts receivable, including reviewing client accounts and following up for timely collection
• Timely completion and filing of our Retail Sales Taxes monthly
• Timely remittance of Net Premium payments to Insurance Carriers and Sub-Broker Commission payments to external Insurance Broker partners
• Gain an understanding of the other team members’ tasks to provide backup during peak times
• Other ad-hoc tasks as required

What you will bring:

• Completed post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
• Previous accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
• Comfortable dealing with company personnel at various levels and can work in a team
