Your contribution
Reporting to the Regional Merchandiser, the buyer supports the corporate stores team.
More specifically, it performs the following main functions:
· Purchase and place orders for goods, and materials for the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner.
· Research and survey purchasing markets to find the most optimal suppliers, consistent with company objectives.
· Coordinate all purchases with inventory to warehouse managers to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods and/or services.
· Prepare and manage quotes, requests for quotes, requests for proposals, requests for information and other supplier documents.
· Manage service level agreements, scope of work and contractual terms with service providers.
· Manage shipping arrangements.
· Verify all invoices including agreed prices, products, shipping date, quantity, and shipping method.
· Be aware of pricing trends, changes, restrictions, or other variables that could impact the purchasing strategies.
· Inform the departments of the time required to obtain products or services.
· Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies using diplomacy and tact with vendors and service providers.
· Make recommendations and suggest options to the Purchasing Manager regarding anticipated or unexpected material shortages.
· Negotiate the return of items to suppliers and coordinate subsequent credits, refunds, or replacements.
· Where applicable, arrange purchases with other buyers to obtain price discounts on volume orders.
· Make alternative arrangements if shortage or delivery delay to minimize the impact on the organization.
· Adhere to and enforce purchasing policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
· Other related tasks that may be assigned.

Qualifications and skills?

• University Diploma in a related field or an equivalent experience.
• Have 3 to 5 years’ experience in the distribution sector.
• Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, especially in Excel.

Location and work environment:

• The workplace is at 50, Whiting Road, Fredericton, N.B.
