Job Title: Dispatcher

Job Description

We are seeking a dispatcher in the transportation industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating driver runs, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining effective communication with customers and drivers. This role requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Set up driver runs for afternoon and evening deliveries.
• Review emails and respond to dispatch-related inquiries.
• Input driver runs into Truckmate.
• Coordinate arrival and departure of city P&D, I/B, and O/B linehaul.
• Print manifests and working copies if not already printed.
• Check in drivers and ensure all PODs and related documents are returned.
• Assign and cover all pick-ups.
• Provide customer service over the phone for pick-up entries or inquiries.
• Handle any driver issues that arise.
• Validate city pickups and print dock stickers.
• Review drivers' pickups to ensure pictures are taken and uploaded in Vector.
• Ensure timely delivery to grocery warehouses.
• Monitor and control driver hours, ensuring they are efficient on the road.
• Answer phone calls from customers and customer service related to dispatch.
• Handle outside carriers dropping off or picking up shipments.
• Call in interline bills and set up pickups for interline carriers.
• Plan next morning's deliveries for 5-Ton trucks and ensure all appointments are covered.
• Arrange any necessary swampers for drivers for the next day or evening.
• Assist the dock with closing trailers and advise Central Dispatch when loads are ready.

Essential Skills

• 1-2 years of dispatching experience.
• 1-2 years of administrative or data entry experience.
• Strong command of the English language.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• High school education.
• Geographical knowledge of the lower mainland.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in the trucking industry.
• Familiarity with Truck Mate (TMW) software.
• Experience in the 3PL industry.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 18:30. The workplace is transit accessible and has parking available.
