We are looking to add a new member to our team!
Role Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to provide the skills and advice to management for the propagation and care
of plants in the nursery environment to ensure plants are at their optimum throughout the growing
cycle and are well presented for delivery to clients. The Grower will assist in supervising and training
forest nursery workers, keeping neat and accurate records. Some weekend and shift work will be
required.

Role Purpose:

forest nursery workers, keeping neat and accurate records. Some weekend and shift work will be
required.
Job Description:
Propagation and Planting
- To determine the proper techniques, timings, required pretreatments, appropriate growing media, and/or any other specialized requirements in preparation for planting and/or propagation takes place in a timely and coordinated manner
- Source material or products are propagated and/or planted according to an approved plan.
- To advise the Nursery Business Manager on: The appropriate irrigation, weeding, fertilizing, sanitation, and pest control on all nursery stock takes place and is effective at maintaining plants in optimum health
- Pest, disease and mortality checks are undertaken in a timely manner.
- Plant growth and plant wellbeing is monitored and actively managed to achieve the highest quality standards and meet sales and dispatch deadlines.
- Quality control checks of plant material are actively managed, systems and processes.
- Be an active participating member of the nursery team undertaking hands on roles, as directed by the Nursery Manager, in all aspects of the nurseries daily production activities, these will include but not be limited to helping on the harvest floor, watering, grading, general plant care etc.
- Assist the Nursery Manager to ensure the horticultural capability of all staff working in the nursery is improved.
- Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to.
- Have excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail, planning skills, and work ethic.
- A positive attitude towards Health, Safety, and Environment is maintained.
- The Employee may be required from time to time to perform other duties within other areas of the company which the Employer may reasonably expect the Employee to perform as the needs of the Employer dictate.
- The successful candidate will have at a minimum a two year diploma in horticulture or agriculture and a minimum of 5 years' of experience. An acceptable combination of formal training and relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience with greenhouse production and management including the ability to coordinate and supervise operational tasks, planning, and crew supervision.
- The ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office, familiarity with climate control systems.
- Proven experience collecting data, defining problems, establishing facts, and draw valid conclusions necessary to identify a wide variety of conditions such as plant diseases, existence of insects
- A valid driver license

- Overtime
- Weekends as needed
- Cypress County, AB T1B 0L4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
