What do you offer?
The Program Coordinator of the Your Job Story will provide employment services to at risk youth. The position works with the Employment Services unit and provides oversight of multiple services including: resource information and referral support, job coaching and case management, job development and incentive supports to the unemployed/underemployed youth wishing to work in Ontario. Reporting to the Senior Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the management of program development and facilitation, ensuring that contractual obligations are exceeded, ensuring that there is sufficient community awareness for the program, and to ultimately bridge the gap between employers and job seekers. The successful candidate will demonstrate personal commitment to and understanding of the Y’s mission, vision, values and participant outcomes.
Some of the tasks of this position include:
  • Managing program development and facilitation, ensuring that contractual obligations are exceeded and that there is sufficient community awareness for the program.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership to program staff.
  • Directly supporting program participants with setting and attaining goals.
  • Coordinating and communicating with relevant community partners associated with the program.
  • Producing reports within set deadlines and according to parameters set by partners, including financial and activity reporting.
  • Supporting and facilitating all evaluation-related activities, including data collection and the facilitation of site visits.

The successful candidate will have the following:
Education
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent in a related field
Language
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Bilingualism is an asset
Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Employment Services in the Ottawa area
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and networking skills
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
  • Experience in curriculum development, program startups and course facilitation, or related experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management capabilities
  • Ability to work with clients and staff with diverse needs, backgrounds, and skills
  • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Additional Requirements:
  • Applicants must already have a valid permit to work in Canada.
  • A Police Record check, not more than 6 months old is required. Police Records checks are reviewed on an individual basis and the offense(s) - if any - is considered in the decision-making process in relation to the requirement of working with children, therefore not eliminating all candidates with a record from being offered a position.
  • Semi-annually, staff must complete the mandatory training for the protection of Children & Youth and submit the certificate of completion.

  • Teamwork: Participates actively in a team for program quality and effectiveness.
