About Our Client:
Our client is a leader in manufactured precision parts and assembly components for the auto industry. With more than 40 years of manufacturing excellence in Barrie, ON. The Purchasing Clerk is supporting the Purchasing Team in their day-to-day activities for sourcing, scheduling of products and follow up with suppliers using the ERP system. This position is for a maternity leave. The position is immediate until December 2025.
What You Will Be Doing, as a Purchasing Clerk:
  • Supports negotiation of long-term agreements with suppliers and sub-contractors to meet the objectives of the supply chain strategy
  • Manage and maintain vendor relationships to create long lasting partnerships while achieving financial goals of the organization
  • Communicate with suppliers and internal customers including Receiving, Scheduling, Accounts Payable, Production and Sales departments to ensure a high level of transparency to maximize efficiency
  • Schedule part requirements for suppliers for material/services to ensure that delivery schedules are met
  • Monitor inventory levels and maintain inventories at all agreed levels
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies of parts related to outside services
  • Daily performance monitoring of suppliers to ensure that schedules are met
  • Provides support to the SQA function in order to mitigate and settle claims that arise from non conformances caused by materials/services
  • Support the analysis of existing expense patterns to minimize cost for the organization
  • Providing input to optimize the use of the ERP system in conjunction with the IT department of the organization to maximize the potential of the ERP system
  • Maintain product record information to ensure accuracy of purchasing related system parameters in the ERP system
  • Supporting Production Scheduling with administrative tasks on a daily basis
  • Follow any ISO procedures and practices developed for the department and help to optimize processes and related procedures
  • Follow Company policies and procedures
  • Maintain safety and housekeeping at all times
  • Occasionally providing 'back-up' to Customer Service/Scheduling at peak hours and vacation time
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Should Have, as a Purchasing Clerk:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP-systems
  • Technical background is a plus
  • Ability to work in inch and metric system
  • Valid driver license
  • Remain current in job related training and upgrading
  • Working knowledge of ISO and TS Quality Management Systems
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment both in an office and plant floor
  • Appropriate safety equipment must be worn based on the task being performed
  • Dress code will vary from business formal to shop floor labor
  • Stressful and time sensitive
  • Overtime, off hour and on-call work might be required
In Return, You Will Receive:
  • $23.00-$25.00/hr based on experience
The Shift You Will Be Working is:
  • Monday-Friday
  • 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Immediate start to December 2025

  • Big Bay Point Rd. and Huron Rd (Barrie)

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 15 months

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
