About Us:
Six by the Sea is a collection of six historic buildings nestled in iconic Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia, lovingly restored to host East Coast-inspired businesses and cultural experiences. ?A village within a village?, our distinct operations feature a mix of for-profit retail and food & beverage establishments, alongside not-for-profit entities supporting the Peggy's Cove Centre for Arts and Culture. While Six by the Sea's full, official opening is slated for June 2025, Holy Mackerel, Spindrift Gallery, and The Schoolhouse are already welcoming visitors from Atlantic Canada and beyond.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for a dynamic and discerning individual to help build and enhance the social media presence of Six by the Sea and its associated operations from the ground up. The ideal candidate will bring high initiative and creativity, with outstanding communication, brand management, and organizational skills. A deep appreciation for the essence of Six by the Sea and its role in the Peggy's Cove community is essential. In this position, you will work closely with our Director of Marketing & Communications to support the overall marketing strategy for our unique brands. Your efforts will drive engagement and help us achieve our objectives across social media platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and energize all social media communications for each of our distinct brands.
  • Help develop and implement a social media content plan that aligns with our overall marketing strategy.
  • Prepare content calendars well in advance, with allowance for spontaneous content.
  • Create and curate compelling and representative content that engages audiences and elevates our social media presence.
  • Produce ?social-first? videos that highlight our location, customers, products, and experiences.
  • Design and optimize both organic and paid campaigns to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Build and maintain a strong community of supporters by actively engaging with users, responding to comments, and managing reviews in a timely manner, including outside normal business hours.
  • Monitor and address potential PR crises on social media platforms.
  • Track, analyze, and report on social media performance, offering insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams and partners to ensure consistent messaging and maximize opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends, technologies, and best practices to help drive success.
  • Ensure all social media activities comply with legal and ethical standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • University degree, college diploma, or equivalent in a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in social media marketing, content creation, brand management, or a similar role.
  • Excellent creative and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in managing platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, Pinterest, and You Tube, along with social media management tools.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software like Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva.
  • Familiarity with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere, i Movie, or Final Cut Pro.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed, data-driven decisions.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.
  • Valid driver's license.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with weekends and evenings as needed.
Location: Peggy's Cove, with some flexibility for remote work.
To apply: Please upload your resume with three content creation samples as a singular PDF.
