Current Opportunity:
Right now, we’re looking for a Group Head of Legal to join our Legal Department. The job holder will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Legal activities within the Group, including the provision of legal advisory services and effective management of legal and contractual risks. He or she is also responsible for licensing renewals and potential new license applications, legal audits, examinations, disseminating and analyzing new or revised laws and regulations, research on legal issues, training, and their organizations' overall legal policies and procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Your daily activities will include, but are not limited to:
Legal risk
- Review and provide legal advice on tender documents. Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to staff.
- Review ongoing cases and advise management accordingly. Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, especially on contract management.
- Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where legal risks have been identified, appropriate courses of action have been taken.
Policy development and Litigation management
- Participate in the preparation of guidance and organizational documents of the Company. Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures.
- Review the progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
Contract negotiation and management
- Review all contracts or any other documentation where the Company has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.
- Negotiate, review, and draft documentation for business transactions and prepare and advise on the necessary checklist to ensure timely information submission.
Administrative and other duties
- Ensure effective co-operation with the other departments of the Group. Participate in the planning and monitoring of resources (people, finance, materials, etc.)
- Assess 3rd party law firms and ensure effective and efficient service for the Group
What We’re Looking For:
You should have experience in:
- University degree in law
- At least eight years of experience as a legal counsel/compliance manager or senior specialist, ideally in a leading international organization with CEE presence.
- Excellent knowledge of English, Czech (or Slovak)
- Experience in the betting/gaming industry, including Responsible betting/gaming and Player Protection best practices
- Strong leadership and managerial skills and effective legal/compliance leadership
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills necessary for interaction with the Governments, the Judicial systems and negotiating parties; `
- Demonstrates knowledge of, and experience with, laws dealing with government and/or commercial contract administration, particularly contract negotiation, preparation and administration;
- Demonstrates success in managing and conducting a variety of litigation matters;
- Good planning and organization skills;
- Proven ability to delicately solve sensitive matters
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory law
