Humanitarian Coordinator (Maternity Cover) - Humanitarian Response and Mine Action Unit, DanChurchAid (DCA)

As a Humanitarian Coordinator, you will play a direct role in implementing DCA’s global goal to Save Lives, working closely together with our 20 country offices, thematic advisors and various other colleagues in Denmark and globally. This to ensure timely and relevant humanitarian assistance, to facilitate humanitarian implementors with relevant and updated resources and tools, and to support the communication and linkages of the humanitarian work internally in DCA.
You will be one of two Humanitarian Coordinators in the HRMA unit, who are collaborating closely together on a daily basis, each supporting half of the 20 country offices, and sharing tasks and requests based on this division. Based on your skills and interest, you will have the opportunity to be part of HRMA’s internal Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) Working Group, to further develop and support Country Offices in this area of work, which falls under DCA’s global Humanitarian Mine Action programme.
The position will be based at DCA’s head office (HQ) in Copenhagen. Travel can occur as part of this job, but not for extensive periods. The Humanitarian Coordinator refers to the team leader in HRMA, and takes part in the day-to-day work in HRMA, including group meetings etc.
Your key responsibilities of this position will include:
- The Humanitarian Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating requests, review, quality assurance, activation, and monitoring of DCA’s Humanitarian Crisis Fund, to support new rapid humanitarian projects in country offices
- Provide time-bound focused support in emergencies, including the coordination of and support across different units in DCA HQ and relevant country offices
- Coordinate and facilitate the learning and information sharing platform on the Save Lives goal in close partnership with HRMA advisors and other relevant personnel
- Continuous updated understanding of the humanitarian programme needs across country offices, to be able to support Country offices and HQ on an ad-hoc basis
- Provide presentations and updates on countries as needed to for example programme directors, media and engagement colleagues, etc.
- A minimum of 3 years of NGO work experience in conflict and emergency environments
- A clear understanding of programme and finance management, incl. project/programme management cycles
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Danish language is an advantage
- Programmatic experience with Humanitarian Response, Cash interventions, Protection, Conflict Prevention and Peacebuilding, and Humanitarian Mine Action highly desired
- Cultural sensitivity and the ability to build relations both within and outside DCA
- Willingness to travel to areas where we work, incl. insecure areas
- Ideally completed High-Risk Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) (Security training)

- A 10 months full time contract based in Copenhagen from the 1. December 2024 to 31. September 2025.
The position is based at DCA’s main office at Meldahlsgade 3, 1613 Copenhagen, and given the urgency of recruitment and length of contract, we would prefer candidates already living in Denmark and with valid work permits.
