Basketball Operations Lead - NBA Egypt

Position Summary
This role will report to the Head of Egypt and will provide project, program & administrative support for basketball operations matters in Egypt (ranging from combines to player transactions and game enforcement). This role requires experience in basketball operations, a high level of knowledge of the international basketball landscape, and the ability to foster and maintain relationships with sports governing bodies and collegiate/universities and basketball talent scouts.Manages the day-to-day operations of game-related activities and events and/or ensures successful execution of the on-court product and sub-programming.
Major Responsibilities
- Oversees daily activities of sport/game operations.
- Interprets player disciplines and rules to ensure compliance with all agreements, rules and contracts.
- May support off-season development leagues and minor leagues.
- Prepares operations analyses, including analysis of competitors, operational effectiveness and capacity utilization.
- Maintains an ongoing interface with various organizational and regional groups in areas such as decision analysis, technical needs, planning and execution.
- Develops process analyses, designs and simulations.
- Performs analyses of the operation's cost elements to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Manage the oversight, administration, and execution of the NBA Academies platform and objectives within the current NCAA, Amateur and non-professional system:
- Constructing documents, strategy, and legislation regarding amateurism and eligibility for players participating in NBA Academies in China, India, Senegal, Australia, and other locations
- Manage continued cooperation within NBA international operations, legal, and other necessary departments for the proper implementation of programs and initiatives within the NCAA framework of eligibility.
- Participate in and provide ideas for future Academy engagements for exposure, growth, and opportunities for athletes within the program.
- Manage relationships, with NCAA college coaches and NBA scouts to create a fluid communication system regarding the progress of Elite Academy participants.
- Contribute to the collection, organization and monitoring of NBA Academy student-athlete’s important documents, including transcripts, test scores (TOEFL, SAT, ACT), FIBA registrations/transfers, and visas.
- Participate in the creation and maintenance of the NBA Academy elite basketball coaching curriculum.
- Participate in the training of NBA Academy coaches in the NBA Academy curriculum.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of other NBA international elite basketball development programs, including NBA Academies and Basketball without Borders.
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Passion for basketball.
- Extensive knowledge of the global basketball landscape
- Global thinker and operator – appreciative of and well-versed in other cultures and business practices.
- Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple on-going projects.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) and ability to learn new computer programs.
- Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Fluency in English required, French a plus.
- Experience creating, planning, and executing youth basketball programs, a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a multinational matrix organization and manage complex projects.
- Detail-oriented, organized and able to work autonomously.
- In depth knowledge of the game of basketball, including rules and regulations, officiating, scheduling, players, coaches, and teams.
- Ability to travel extensively across Africa.
Experience Needed
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with basketball operations (playing, coaching, talent evaluation, on-court programming etc.)
- High-level (college or professional) basketball playing experience preferred.
- Experience with running basketball practices, clinics, and camps.
- Experience in creation of relationships across governing bodies of basketball (NCAA and NBA).
- A successful track record of developing, enhancing and maintaining strong working relationships with both internal and external clients.
Educational Background Required
- Bachelor’s degree required.
