Amentum is actively seeking an Interior Communications (IC)/Navigation (NAV) Field Engineer, for International Fleet Support under the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PMS 326 Follow-On Technical Support (FOTS) contract. The work location will be at the Egyptian Naval Base in the port of Alexandria, Egypt. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
Essential responsibilities and daily duties include:

Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) level of knowledge of various U.S. Navy Interior Communications/Navigation systems and equipment sensors.

Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for various Electronic IC and NAV warfare systems onboard military vessels owned by the Egyptian Navy.

Provide subcontractor oversight and On-the-job (OJT) training to the workforce of Egyptian Nationals during the execution of ship availabilities and technical assistance requests for various ship platforms as required and directed by the Technical Assistance Team (TAT) Manager.

Work under limited supervision, have strong problem-solving skills, interpret schematics, use manufacturers manuals, and use your knowledge of electronic circuit theory to troubleshoot systems.

Conduct Material Condition Assessment (MCA), repair and maintain various Electronic Warfare like gyros and Communications Intelligence systems, consoles and associated equipment to include alignments. As the Egyptian Navy modernizes its fleet, the range of systems will expand accordingly.

Maintain and repair interior communications systems.
-
Prepare and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and sketches.

Install and inspect dry cell and storage batteries; recharging wet cell batteries.

Test interior communications and gyrocompass equipment.
-
Install telephone and other communications circuits, boxes, switchboards and bell buzzer systems.

Maintain plotters and dead reckoning equipment.

Maintain and operate TV systems; maintain and repair shipboard navigation equipment
-
Provide a detailed report on findings, required repair parts and recommendations.

Inspect and test electronic equipment, components, and assemblies using multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, and other electronic test instruments, tools, and equipment.

Provide training to the shipboard crews on the operation and maintenance on said equipment above and associated ancillary equipment.

Participate as a member of the Amentum Technical Assistance Team (TAT) in close coordination with the TAT Manager.

Provide timely and comprehensive inputs for the Monthly Status Report.
Minimum Requirements
-
10 years of experience supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of U.S. Navy Interior Communications/Navigation and supporting Warfare Systems.

Working knowledge as an SME of various U.S. Naval Interior Communications and Electronic Navigational, systems and equipment.

Working knowledge of NAVSEA Standard items as applicable to intermediate and depot level repair procedures, repair, and maintenance standards, quality assurance specifications, and proper use of IMA industrial machinery.

Working knowledge with Alteration and Installation Team (AIT) processes to include equipment upgrades, system updates, and working with other partners and vendors.

Proficiency in the use of hand tools, precision measurement tools, and a thorough knowledge of standard shipyard practices.

Proficiency with basic computer operation with the ability to create and maintain various reports and spreadsheets, as required.

Proficiency in operation, testing, and demonstration from troubleshooting and maintaining a wide variety of electrical and electronic equipment aboard ships.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
-
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
-
Ability to interpret vessel blueprints and ship drawings along with research of ships systems manuals to identify problems as they arise.

Ability to obtain a Country Clearance and Base Pass authorization.
-
Ability to possess a current passport at least two years before expiration after arrival in Egypt.

Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS.
Preferred Qualifications
-
US Navy A and C schools for Interior Communications / Navigational warfare systems graduate.
-
Retired or Non Retired NAVY/USCG First Class Petty Officer or Chief Petty Officer.
-
SME level of knowledge with WSN7B Gyro’s able to understand NMEA 2000 and 0183 data that being output.
-
Prior shipyard maintenance experience or a working knowledge of expectations and safety protocols related to a shipyard environment.

Experience working in an Arab country for long periods of time.
