Data Platform Architect
Reporting to:
Business Application Director, acting Chief Information Officer

Job role and purpose:
A Data Platform Architect plays a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our data architecture and Azure data platform. As part of our team, you'll be driving the responsibilities of designing, developing, and refining data platforms. You will support extensive data processing and analytics objectives while bearing in mind scalability and security.
Your main duties will revolve around several key areas. You´ll be responsible of the Architecture Design and Development, where you'll use your expertise to create data platforms tailored to our organization's specific requirements, ensuring they meet stringent criteria for scalability, security, and performance. The role will also include data modelling, integration and data pipelines skills, when developing data models that accurately capture and represent the critical data elements essential to our operations. Hands on engineering skills will be crucial to succeed in this role.
You'll also be responsible for platform management and optimization. This entails closely monitoring the performance of our data platform, identifying potential bottlenecks, and implementing strategic optimizations to ensure it remains both scalable and efficient enough to handle the ever-growing volume and complexity of our data.

In addition to technical prowess, a strong focus will be placed on data governance and compliance. You'll play a pivotal role in establishing and enforcing robust data governance policies aimed at safeguarding data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations. Implementing measures to uphold data quality standards, thereby maintaining the accuracy and reliability of our data, will be integral to your responsibilities.

This role involves a deep understanding of both the technical and business aspects of data, ensuring that data strategies align with organizational goals. Effective collaboration and communication skills will be key aspects of your role. Working closely with a diverse array of stakeholders, including and business leaders, you'll gain insights into their unique data requirements and provide strategic guidance accordingly.

Qualifications and experience:
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer science, Information Management, Data Science or similar field
  • 5+ years of proven experience in Data Architect, Data Engineer, or a similar role in data platform development
  • Full working proficiency in English. Finnish language skills are seen as advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of different data platform technologies (e.g., Snowflake, DBT, Databricks or similar)
  • Strong knowhow on database management systems (e.g., SQL, No SQL), and data modeling techniques
  • Experience with cloud services (especially Azure) and understanding of cloud-based data platform solutions
  • Proficiency in programming languages used in data contexts (e.g. Python, Java, Scala).
  • Knowledge of data governance, data security, and compliance requirements

The role might involve limited travelling within Nordic countries.
Our company operates on a hybrid working model, allowing 50% on-site and 50% remote work flexibility. We offer you accessible office location in Ruoholahti, Helsinki or Hervanta, Tampere and public transport benefit or parking benefit and bike benefit.
Please note that the selected candidate will need to pass the Finnish security clearance vetting (perusmuotoinen turvallisuusselvitys).

Benefits:
In addition to a competitive pay package, you’ll also enjoy a range of benefits that make 3step IT a place where we take care of you.

Beyond your pay, we go a few steps further to make sure you’re properly recognized for your achievements. Some of the highlights include the 3step IT Bonus Program and Employee Excellence Awards!

A good work-life balance and wonderful workspaces are essential, but we go further. We want you to bring your whole self to work: a healthy mind and a healthy body. Breaks in your day are vital, so we avoid back to back meetings, and you’ll be offered a range of physical activities to get involved in. It’s all about being the ‘best you’ you can be.
  • Giving back
You’ll have the chance to join colleagues in various team volunteering initiatives, as well as gaining funding and support for the causes you believe in. We call this ‘Walk the talk’ because we demonstrate through action that we take care of our planet.
  • Fun stuff
