The Intelligent Controls team is driving the development of new plant automation, control, and intelligence functionality for our thermal power plant offerings with a focus on autonomous power plants with a technology stack spanning both OT and IT systems from process controls to cloud intelligence.

We are now looking for a (Senior) Software Engineer for our Intelligent Controls team developing our technology stack. The preferred location for the position is Vaasa, Helsinki or Turku. We offer the possibility of hybrid remote work.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Develop software functionalities and intelligence for remotely and autonomously controlled power plants
• Develop web-based SCADA and HMI functionalities for remote control
• Co-create developments with team members, suppliers and partners
• Participate in bringing new technology to the market and pilot customers
• Internal and external customer use case understanding and translation to technical solutions
• Drive our Wärtsilä values and purpose

You will shine in this role when:

• You hold a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Automation with at least 2 years of relevant experience
• You are experienced in software engineering, Python, C/C++ or C# as well as some experience of Matlab & Simulink
• You have experience in SCADA and HMI systems and utilizing front-end web technologies
• You have some experience with AWS cloud technologies
• Experience in machine learning, and image processing software systems is seen as a plus
• Experience or understanding of electrical concepts, power grids including power and energy management is seen as a plus
• Experience in thermal power generation and its control is seen as a plus
• Fluent written and spoken English
• Analytical skills, as well as creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Team player who enjoys working with people
• Fluent written and spoken English
