Design Manager

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority welcomes exceptional talent with a passion to realise the vision and mission of making the West Kowloon Cultural District a prime local and international destination for arts, culture and entertainment.

Reporting to the General Manager, Special Projects Design in Projects Division, the job holder shall be responsible for design, planning, coordinating and reviewing architectural and other design disciplines to ensure the design is fit for purpose for studies and projects across the District.

You will be responsible for:

vetting architectural, interior and design related materials, government submissions and conducting site inspections on design matters and review FOH materials submissions and specifications;
preparing conceptual and preliminary designs for in-house studies;
ensuring design requirements are incorporated into designs, tender documents, contract documents and works;
proactively identifying design and construction interface issues and liaising with Design Consultants, other Project Consultants and to provide time and cost effective design solutions;
collaborating with in-house Departments in Projects Division to jointly ensure that the project design intent, programme and costs are managed and maintained as directed;
regularly reporting key project details including design development, statutory submissions and associated status, construction progress and other aspects to the team head;
collaborating with other Design and Project Managers in Projects Division to provide design support in the reviews of in-house designs and consultant designs; and
performing any other duties as the Authority may reasonably direct from time to time.

You should:

possess a recognised university degree in Architecture, or master in Architecture or equivalent;
be a Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Architects (“HKIA”) or equivalent and a Registered Architect;
have at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in the design of building projects;
be familiar with Hong Kong Statutory Building related legislations and conversant with building contracts;
have experience in mid to large scale consultant organisations;
have design management skills and experience;
have multi-disciplinary interface knowledge with understanding of building services and to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve compliance and quality;
have a solid working knowledge of 3D Design Softwares;
have working experience using Building Information Modelling (“BIM”) software, tools and techniques and their applications to the design, government submissions and co-ordination;
be a team player and;
be proficient and confident in presenting design solutions and in written and spoken business English and Chinese.
