Senior IT Support Assistant/IT Support Assistant (at the rank of Senior IT Assistant/IT Assistant) in the Clinical Trials Centre (Ref.: 530262)
The Clinical Trials Centre (HKU-CTC) is a leading clinical trials management platform established under the University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) and is dedicated to managing and facilitating international-standard clinical trials on new drugs, medical devices and medical technologies. HKU-CTC offers long-term development opportunities to passionate talents who pursue career advancement and success.
We are seeking a high calibre IT professional to join our Information Technology Unit as an Senior IT Support Assistant/IT Support Assistant. The role will be responsible for providing technical support to our staff, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of our IT systems. This position is ideal for individuals eager to learn, possess strong problem-solving skills, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users. Those with more experience will be considered as Senior IT Support Assistant.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide first-level technical support to staff via phone, email, or in-person;
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues;
Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals;
Install and update software applications and operating systems;
Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and ensure that it is in good working condition;
Document support requests and resolutions in the helpdesk system;
Assist in the implementation of IT projects and initiatives;
Provide basic training and guidance to staff on the use of IT systems and software;
Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff when necessary; and
Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field;
Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts;
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common operating systems (Windows, Mac OS);
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
Good communications and interpersonal skills;
Previous experience in an IT support role is a plus; and
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.

The appointment will be made on a two-year fixed-term full-time contract, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
