Senior Lecturer

Major Duties:

(a)

To assist in overseeing the daily operations of the operational unit and ensure effective management of resources of the operational unit;

(b)

To assist the Academic Director and the Head of Department in reviewing and implementation of VTC’s policies in relation to quality enhancement matters on Childcare, Elderly and Community Services programmes;

(c)

To provide academic leadership in programme design / accreditation and validation / fieldwork placement / resources management and implementation on the relevant quality assurance policy;

(d)

To provide support for and coordinate all matters relating to accreditations and professional recognition by local accreditation authorities on CECS’s programmes and non-local top up degree programmes run in collaboration with overseas partnering universities;

(e)

To build close network with the industries, professional bodies, HKSAR Government, NGOs and strategic partners in the programme promotion and operation;

(f)

To initiate, develop and render services, both locally and internationally, to facilitate students’ learning; and

(g)

To assist in formulating strategies and work plans for effective implementation of VTC’s strategic initiatives as well as other assigned duties.

Requirements:

(a)

A recognised degree in Education / Childcare, Elderly and Community Services related discipline or relevant professional qualification, preferably with focus on service learning and / or relevant post-graduate qualification;

(b)

At least 5 years’ relevant experience at an appropriate level of responsibility;

(c)

Good knowledge and solid work experience in programme design and development, implementation of quality assurance policy; accreditation exercises in local / non-local programmes in the VTC, preferably experienced in handling accreditation exercises with internal and external stakeholders;

(d)

Good understanding on the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework and the recent development of accreditation standards of local accreditation authorities;

(e)

Experience in liaising and negotiating with officials from accreditation authorities and / or academic / administrative personnel from collaborating institutions on accreditation matters;

(f)

Good records of professional development and linkages with the industry, professional bodies, NGOs and HKSAR Government;

(g)

Strong commitment to fostering a quality culture;

(h)

Good administrative, interpersonal, communication and team building skills; and

(i)

Good presentation skills and a high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.

(1)

Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
