Head of PE - Maternity Cover
About the role
Join our fast-paced international environment and you will teach across the age and ability ranges within a curriculum founded on the National Curriculum for England, GCSEs/IGCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. A specialist secondary PE teacher, ideally able to teach up to GCSE PE and possibly SEHS in the IB Diploma Programme, you will also be able to teach at KS3 and KS4 and the ideal candidate will offer to teach some Primary School PE. Opportunities are also available to teach our primary age children for a suitable candidate.
You will challenge your students to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and implement innovative teaching practices to enhance the student experience and outcomes. You will be committed to the wider role of a teacher in an international school and be an enthusiastic Form Tutor and involve yourself in our care and guidance programme and co-curricular activities.
About you
Able to create a culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, ideally you will have a sport and physical education related degree, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues.
A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Hungary, which typically involves holding a European passport.
Responsibilities
- Generate excitement and passion for physical education and health;
- Inspire trust and confidence in students, colleagues and parents;
- Engage and motivate students to strive for the highest achievements;
- Be a role model for physical and mental health and wellbeing in the school community;
- Promote the use of technology to enhance learning;
- Be relentless in the quest for excellence, using achievement and progress data and lesson observations to seek out and promote excellent teaching;
- Ensure continuity across Primary and Secondary and contribute to the development of curriculum, pedagogy and teaching across the school;
- Build strong teams and create the conditions for staff to learn from each other;
- Continually strive to develop the quality of students’ learning across the curriculum, particularly in relation to English language development;
- Use student tracking and monitoring processes to advance student learning and enhance professional practice;
- Contribute to school improvement planning and the development of the curriculum;
- Develop and deploy curriculum, schemes and resources efficiently and effectively;
- Promote the school mission and values and those of the NAE family of schools.
Other Requirements
- Contribute positively to the morale and community spirit in the school;
- Work effectively in different teams;
- Assist in whole school marketing initiatives and contribute to the growth of the school;
- Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school and NAE;
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of excellent pedagogy and curriculum;
- Be proactive in professional development to enhance students' learning;
- Meet responsibilities with regard to safeguarding, health and safety, equal opportunities and conform to professional and ethical requirements;
- Any other appropriate duties as allocated by the Principal.
Qualifications/Trainings
- Qualified to bachelor degree level or above.
- Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
Experience
- Proven track record with at least five years’ teaching experience.
- Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curriculum to engage children and enable them to perform highly.
- Working in partnership with parents.
Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication in English.
- Ability to engage children and enable them to perform highly.
- Strong organisational skills and use of technology.
