The Payroll Time Benefits team focuses on payroll, benefits and absence management support and provides customer service and advisory support to employees, People & Culture and business partners ensuring end-to-end process completion in line with customer focused principles to ensure the Roche People Practices work for the business.

The Opportunity
As a Payroll Specialist, you are supporting our Services & Solutions Center and Hungarian payroll, tax & social security processes. You are responsible for payroll, time, benefits data maintenance and administrative activities in a timely and accurate manner. You are also contributing to the continuous improvement of the People Support Solutions delivery. This is coupled with strong customer focus, communication skills and solution orientation.

  • Performing a variety of payroll, time, and benefits administrative and analytical activities for EMEA countries/affiliates, including payroll data management, reconciliation, and maintenance, as well as benefits administration and operational support.
  • Serving as a point of contact for payroll, time, and benefits customer inquiries.
  • Interpreting People & Culture policies and practices for Hungarian payroll administration and ensuring compliance with local time and absence policies.
  • Providing timely responses to customer payroll inquiries using an internal case management system and proactively identifying and troubleshooting payroll issues.
  • Analyzing multiple payroll audits during processing to ensure accuracy and validity, and corresponding with managers and leaders to confirm employee time and absence entries.
  • Managing, processing, and reconciling mass upload files for all pay frequencies, monitoring data flows between Workday and related payroll tools/systems, and resolving integration errors.
  • Supporting inquiry resolution, escalating requests as necessary, analyzing and controlling payroll processes for Hungary, executing ICFR controls, participating in continuous improvement initiatives, updating SWIs and SOP documentation, and leading project initiatives as required.

Who you are
  • 2-3+ years of experience in Hungarian Payroll, Tax & Social Security services with end-to-end process experience.
  • High learning agility, excellent attention to detail, analytical ability, and advanced Excel skills (pivot table, v-lookup, etc.).
  • Proven track record of delivering in a matrix organization and working independently in a fast-paced, changing environment with flexibility to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong customer centricity, end-to-end accountability, problem-solving skills, and a growth & agile mindset in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong English communication skills (both written and spoken) are essential; SAP HR/Payroll module knowledge is an advantage.

The Opportunity
As a Payroll, Time & Benefits Senior Specialist, you support in driving simplification and harmonization of payroll time & benefits (PTB) processes and practices in EMEA region, participate in the transformation for to-be processes in PTB area, support global/regional alignment on process definition, quality standards and data ownership and the application of global aligned approach of PTB operating model in the region. You are also responsible for payroll, time, benefits data maintenance and administrative activities in a timely and accurate manner following defined scope, contributing to the continuous improvement of the People Support Solutions delivery. This is coupled with strong customer focus, communication skills and solution orientation.

  • Payroll & Benefits Administration: Manage payroll data, reconcile payroll, and administer flexible benefits, allowances, health insurance, and life insurance plans.
  • Customer Service: Act as a contact point for payroll vendor and inquiries, providing timely responses and escalating requests as necessary.
  • Policy Interpretation: Understand and apply People & Culture policies for EMEA payroll administration.
  • Data & Process Management: Monitor and reconcile payroll data flows, manage mass upload files, and ensure accurate data integration.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively identify and troubleshoot payroll issues, determining root causes and solutions.
  • Documentation & Continuous Improvement: Update SWIs and SOPs, participate in process improvement initiatives, and partially lead project initiatives.
  • Compliance & Controls: Execute ICFR controls, analyze payroll audits for accuracy, and ensure compliance with local regulations.

Who you are
  • 5+ years of end-to-end payroll services experience in a shared service center, supporting multiple countries.
  • High learning agility with the ability to provide remote support for payroll, time, and benefits administration.
  • Excellent attention to detail, advanced Excel skills, and strong analytical ability.
  • Proven ability to deliver in a matrix organization and handle multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken); knowledge of additional languages (e.g., Ukrainian, Russian, Romanian, Bulgarian) and SAP HR/Payroll module is a plus.
