Position Overview: The Civil Engineering Estimator will be integral to the project planning and execution process. The successful candidate will bring a wealth of experience in cost estimation, sub-contractor management, and overseeing day-to-day operations on-site. This role is ideal for a professional with a solid background in civil engineering and a keen interest in project management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for civil engineering projects.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to establish detailed project scopes.
- Negotiate with sub-contractors and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
- Monitor project costs and progress, ensuring adherence to the budget and schedule.
- Support the preparation of tender documents and participate in contract negotiations.
- Conduct site visits and assessments to gather essential information for estimates.
- Manage sub-contractors on-site, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
- Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure a smooth workflow and address any issues that arise.
- Stay updated on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering estimation.
- At least 2 years of experience managing sub-contractors on-site and handling day-to-day operations.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and cost estimation techniques.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., Auto CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, estimating software).
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
