Festival and Events Coordinator

The Festival and Events Coordinator’s responsibilities will include the following:
· Work with external stakeholders to support the development and promotion of their festivals and events.
· Develop partnerships with the many organisations involved in hosting larger festivals and events and support volunteers by developing solutions for the many obstacles that can oftentimes result in festivals / events not going ahead.
· Develop a year-round calendar of festivals and events in the Athlone region and ensure that it is circulated via the many tourism portals and websites such as Athlone.ie, midlandsireland.ie, Westmeath, Roscommon, Longford and Offaly County Councils, together with Failte Ireland routes to market.
· Ability to work on supporting multiple festivals and events while being able to prioritise workload appropriately.
· Provide advice and / or guidance on key technical issues such as logistics, events licencing, budgets, insurance, health and safety and the execution of festivals and events before, during and post event.
· Have a sense of key risks associated with festival and event management and help local organisations, through advice, to minimise risks by better management and planning of their events.
· Develop knowledge and strong ties with Local Government, Civil defence, Order of Malta, HSE, An Garda Siochana the Defence Forces and other appropriate stakeholders so that organisations can be introduced to key support organisations when hosting larger events and festivals.
· Develop partnerships with all accommodation providers and vendors in the region to help with planning and capacity well ahead of events taking place.
· Identify new marketing and funding opportunities for festivals and events in the Athlone area and help develop marketing strategies for groups in a cost-effective manner.
· Champion sustainability initiatives in festivals and events on an ongoing basis.
· Lead community engagement initiatives.
· Be the go-to source of information for festival and events committees.
· Develop training workshops / sessions to ensure organisations understand the risks, opportunities and rewards that come from hosting festival and events.
· The successful candidate will also champion the development of the night-time economy, by influencing festival organisers and engaging with tourism offerings in the region.
The Person:
The Festival and Events Coordinator is a self-motivated, solutions focused, results-oriented individual with a passion for culture, tourism and event management. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of the local area. The successful candidate will be skilled in hosting workshops with strong presentation skills.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Tourism, Business or related discipline.
Strong market knowledge and communication skills.
Professional approach with excellent communication skills.
Results-driven and able to work independently and in a team.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Proficiency in social media applications
Must be fluent in English both oral and written.
Full, clean drivers’ licence.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: €28,000.00-€30,000.00 per year
