Grounds (Gardening) Maintenance Operative

Job Title: Grounds (Gardening) Maintenance Operative
Reports to: Assistant Manager
Job Profile
Grounds (Gardening) maintenance operative provides a pleasant outdoor environment by ensuring that the grounds of residential properties, businesses are attractive, orderly, and healthy. They are responsible for the cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a business or building. Grounds (Gardening) Maintenance Operative plants flowers, mow grass, pull weeds and maintain the outside of buildings. The following is not an exhaustive list:
Responsibility/Activity
  • Perform grounds keeping and maintenance duties.
  • Mow lawn either by push lawnmower or using a riding lawnmower.
  • Strimming particularly around the edges of walks, flower beds, and walls.
  • Landscape by planting flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes.
  • Apply pesticide for the control of weeds.
  • Apply fertilizer to ground to enhance growth.
  • Shovel snow from walkways and sprinkle salt down to keep people from falling in winter months.
  • Perform routine grounds maintenance duties.
  • Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks.
  • Sweep walkway of debris.
  • Cut down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
  • Trim shrubs and pull weeds.
  • Rake, mulch, and prune the grounds as needed.
  • Water plants and grass as needed and apply fertilizer.
  • Carry out basic duties after being shown by a team leader/supervisor.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Candidate Profile
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have previous gardening experience.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm, flexibility, and patience.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Speak fluent English.
  • Must have a full and clean type B driving license.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: Up to €15.00 per hour
