Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The business is complex and ambitious with a milk supply pool of 2 billion litres of milk, drawn from over 3,200 family farms across 16 counties.
With the most modern dairy manufacturing facilities in 6 locations on a cross border basis, the Group supplies to a broad customer base including some of the world’s foremost ‘blue chip’ companies across the dairy food ingredients, foodservice and consumer food channels on a domestic Ireland, UK, European and global basis. Internationally we export some 240 different products to over 100 countries worldwide.
The Group’s Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state of the art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland We are seeking applications for the position of Group Financial Accountant based at our Group Headquarters in Killygarry, Co Cavan.
Reporting to the Group Financial Services Manager.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
  • Consolidation: Completion of monthly consolidation and reporting of group divisional performance. This process should include a monthly reconciliation of consolidated group financial performance against the monthly consolidated management accounts.
  • Group and Statutory Audit: This person will be responsible for the overall group and statutory audit of the Lakeland group. The job holder will collate the individual results of the divisions into one reporting pack for the CFO.
They will also prepare the covenant reports for the bank and our group and statutory accounts. The role requires a person who has the drive to achieve results within an administrative area of expertise. The individual will have the ability to work with excellent attention to detail and the ability to ensure strict conformity with rules, systems and protocol. The person will have a high learning agility and the ability to collect data in their area of expertise and impart it to others in a clear logical, consistent and friendly manner. As systems and procedures are key aspects of this role, it requires an individual who is precise, structured and self-motivating who can create and refine and systems of work to produce a high standard of accurate reporting, forecasting and effective work procedures.
The successful candidate will be driving, thorough, and systematic with the tenacity to see jobs through to conclusion. The person will be analytical, factual, and inquisitive with a strong need to achieve tangible, worthwhile results.The ability to evaluate situations, assess and reduce risk are key. Experience and Education: Essential:
  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, CPA) or equivalent
  • Significant relevant PQE acquired in large, fast-growing, multi-site organisation
  • Solid knowledge of FRS 102
  • Experience working with an ERP system
  • Experience managing external group audits and completing YE statutory accounts
  • Ability to manage various workstreams to achieve tight deadlines
  • Excellent team player comfortable working as part of a larger team across different locations.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in Excel
  • Organised and thorough with drive for continuous improvement
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Desirable:
  • Consolidation and preparation of statutory group accounts and annual report
  • Experience working in a multi-site multi-currency manufacturing organisation
  • Experience with SAP ERP
  • Experience working within the Food Industry
