The Kollect Group are seeking a Health and Safety Officer to join our group of companies which include Kollect, BIGbin, Callan Skips and Pink Recycling, for a position based primarily at our facility in Rathangan, Kildare with approximately one day per week of travel to other sites.
As Health and Safety Officer, you will be involved in monitoring and implementing the Health and Safety Management System throughout the business and ensuring compliance with relevant Health and Safety Regulations. The HSO must lead by example and serve as a role model in mobilising the team and ensuring the highest standards of Health & Safety are adopted on-sites.
You will ensure coordination of services in relation to all Health and Safety matters, making sure that risk assessments are operational, reviewed, and managed. You will review incidents related to Health and Safety and ensure the implementation and monitoring of recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the development, implementation, upkeep, and training of the company Safety Management System.
• Conducting regular site audits/inspections to ensure health and safety compliance to Company and Client procedures/rules.
• Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment).
• Manage reporting, conduct associated investigations, and implement corrective actions.
• Plan for, swiftly identify and appropriately respond to hazardous situations.
• Provide crucial support to management in preventing and resolving Health and Safety issues.
• Design and implement safety training programs that align with legal requirements and company policies, procedures, and practices.
• Organise and deliver training to employee and subcontractors as required.
• Management of Health & Safety paperwork on-site.
• Managing and recommending PPE for on-site employees

Key Requirements:

• 3+ years work experience in Health and Safety required.
• Minimum of a recognised Diploma in Health and Safety.
• Additional certifications such as Train the Trainer, Manual Handling Instructor, Working at Heights Instructor, Abrasive Wheels Instructor, MEWPS Instructor etc. would be beneficial.
• Previous experience on waste processing, quarries or construction sites would be beneficial.
• Exhibit a high level of process understanding, operating in compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
• Ability to work on your own initiative and be innovative.
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• You must be legally permitted to live and work in Ireland.
• Full clean driver’s license.
