As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and enforcing safety policies and regulations within the organization. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all operations comply with health and safety legislation and company policies while promoting a culture of safety. You will work closely with management and employees to identify risks, implement safety training, and conduct audits and inspections.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Organize and deliver health and safety training sessions for employees at all levels, including on-boarding sessions for new hires.
- Monitor and analyze health and safety performance metrics and report findings to management, recommending improvements when necessary.
- Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and stay informed about changes in health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Establish and maintain records of safety training, inspections, and regulatory compliance.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among employees through communication and engagement initiatives.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide first aid support as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in health and safety management, preferably in [your industry].
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices in Ireland and the EU.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
