Health Pricing Actuary

Reporting to the Head of Health Pricing, your role will be to support the actuarial function within AXA Ireland to achieve overall financial targets for the health insurance business written by AXA Ireland.
The ideal candidate will have a strong blend of technical, business acumen and communication skills, with the ability to work closely with stakeholders across the business to achieve AXA’s account priorities.

Responsibilities:
- Makes pricing recommendations to ensure profitability, and effectively communicates these recommendations to the health business.
- Ensure that Pricing processes (Rate Adequacy, APTP, Embedding, Rate Change Estimation) are robust and reviewed on a regular basis to ensure control of the account.
- Ensure that the pricing structure is optimal at all levels (P1-P5 layers where available).
- Ensure that AXA Ireland rating structure is based on robust technical models and regularly updated.
- Subject to this ensure that the rating structure is optimised to reflect market dynamics and maximise GWP / profit.
- Derive and share profitability insights and analysis at regular account review meetings.
- Build statistical models (e.g. GLMs etc) to help the business understand it’s performance and identify potential opportunities.
- Review model performances and execute model rebuild and/or adjustments when required.
- Ensure that Pricing tasks comply with Group Standards Handbook, Group Pricing Blueprints as appropriate.
- Is flexible within the role and prepared to undertake other duties as assigned by line manager from time to time.
Your Profile

A minimum of 3 years’ experience in actuarial / pricing / data science related work. - Qualified Actuary with the Institute of Actuaries (or equivalent) or else display the skills required which may be obtained through other studies such as statistics, mathematics, or data science.
- Good business knowledge of Health products (product features, rating structures, IT systems, market…)
- Proven experience using R or Python and Machine Learning required.
- Proficient in using code or analytical tools for modelling, visualization, data manipulation and processing.
- Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment.
- Good understanding of GLMs, machine learning models and data science process (feature engineering, modelling etc.) required.
- Autonomous, innovative, pragmatic, and able to apply known or new techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Displays ownership and accountability for ensuring work is carried out to high standards.
- Effectively contribute to team co-operation, trust & morale.
- Continual professional development through networking, educational progress, and personal development.
- Awareness of the overall compliance to Health & Safety, IT Security, and all legislation/compliance in the Pricing department.
- Within the Data Protection Act and AXA Global Security guidelines, utilizes IT systems and packages to generate information and enhance presentation and quality of work.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland and/or the United Kingdom.
