Stores Assistant / Stock Control

Davenham Switchgear, a Legrand company, is seeking a versatile Stores Assistant / Stock Controller (Warehouse & Inventory Management) to join our team. This role is based primarily in our warehouse but will also require travel to other sites across Ireland. You will play a hands-on role in managing stock, operating forklifts, handling goods in/out, and overseeing inventory management. Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with other supply chain members to ensure smooth warehouse operations and stock availability. The ideal candidate will have experience in both stock control and warehouse operations, including forklift driving and stock taking. This is a full-time role with early Friday finishes and opportunities for voluntary overtime.
Enjoy a balanced workweek, Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and early finishes on Fridays at 1:00 PM, with voluntary overtime available.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations:
- Oversee stock movement, storage, and control across various sites.
- Drive forklifts and other warehouse equipment to load/unload and transport stock.
- Manage goods inwards, including receiving, inspecting, and recording deliveries.
- Facilitate dispatch operations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of stock.
- Conduct regular stock takes and inventory counts to ensure accurate records.
- Monitor and maintain inventory targets, including safety stock levels.
- Liaise with engineers, electricians, and other departments on stock requirements and procurement.
- Design and generate weekly and monthly reports on stock levels and inventory movements.
- Analyse data and continuously improve forecasting and inventory planning processes.
- Track SKU levels and proactively address stock shortages or excesses.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse and inventory management processes.
- Collaborate with demand planning, inventory planning, and purchasing teams to ensure seamless stock control.
- Implement best practices and resolve operational issues as they arise.
- Experience in warehouse operations and inventory control is essential.
- Valid forklift license and experience operating warehouse equipment is essnetial.
- Experience in goods in/out management, stock taking, and dispatch coordination.
- Proficiency with inventory management software is a bonus but not essential (Pegasus Software or similar).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- A full driving license is required.
- Knowledge of the demand planning process is an advantage.
- Must be physically fit and capable of lifting and moving stock when required.
- Hands-on, can-do attitude with the ability to multitask across various warehouse functions.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with different departments and external partners.
- A problem-solver who can adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- A focus on accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Forklift operation and general warehouse equipment handling
- Proficiency in Pegasus Software (or similar stock management systems)
- Strong reporting and data analysis skills using MS Office
- Understanding of stock control processes, including inventory tracking and goods in/out
- Excellent time management and organizational skills

Pay: From €14.92 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 39 per week
