Greencastle Parade Family Hub provides temporary emergency accommodation for 26 families. The service is ‘housing led’; our priority is to work closely with our service users to identify their strengths and address any potential barriers preventing them from availing of independent accommodation.
The service recognises that the main desire of all our families is to have their ’forever home’. Our primary aim is to re-house our families as soon as possible to prevent any potential institutionalisation.
Our service caters for families from many different backgrounds (mums, dads and children).
As it is emergency accommodation the families are placed here through the CPS, however they do consider the backgrounds the families are from as children may already be in local schools.
We have very few young people within our service. The majority of our families are nuclear, however we do have some single parents with children residing in the Hub.
The role of a Support Worker is fundamental to the Salvation Army’s desire to help our vulnerable clients achieve positive outcomes. Key working with residents with a range of support needs, you will be passionate about supporting them in moving towards independent living. You will ensure that our residents are central to our services and successful individual outcomes such as moving towards independent living are achieved.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of the main support needs which are commonly faced by homeless and vulnerable clients
- Knowledge of the benefits system and an understanding of supported housing funding streams and reporting requirements
- Experience of working with vulnerable clients in areas such as homelessness, addiction, mental health
- Legislation and best practice relating to Health and Safety and safeguarding of clients and staff
- Values of integrity and accountability within working practice
- Ability to manage own work load and case load and ability to take the lead at meetings with external agencies.
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Contract
Contract length: 1 month
Pay: €16.15 per hour
Expected hours: 39 per week
