Job Description
Responsible for the development, implementation, execution, and administration of the Expeditors’ ground network and cartage program for Japan.
Qualifications
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
People:
- Support Gateway team in development and operations at the regional level
- Develop solid #2 to support operations at district level
- Ensure team meets company standards of 52 hours training per year per employee.
- Ensure that the new hires complete company’s mandatory training within the first 6 months.
- Review department goals and business plan periodically with team to ensure buy-in and accountability.
- Responsible for all GNS and Cartage Operation and in-/outbound linehaul as well its’ performance
- Strategic analysis of the ground transportation marketplace, competitors, suppliers, and trends
- Supporting and maintaining ground GNS and Cartage routings, schedules and network development
- Supporting operational procurement, service provider performance and statements of work
- Responsible for ground network service & cartage performance, key performance indicators and ad hoc capacity
- Advise and communicate linehaul issues and potential opportunities to Expeditors management
- Identify potential capacity constraints in the scheduled network
- Enact contingencies to expand ad hoc capacity as needed
- Authorize and arrange reroutes, additional trucks as necessary
- Identify and assist in network adjustments to accommodate
- Ensure equipment requirements are in place at branches and hubs to facilitate operations and volatility
- Delay and exception coding and reporting
- Root cause analysis and corrective action as necessary
- Support and deliver training to external customers as required, in line with company guidelines.
- Support local branch management with the implementation of new skills.
- Support branches with workshops and ad-hoc training as needed.
- Responsible for establishing linehaul & cartage budgets and strategies to attain targets
- Create and maintain internal costing models for cross product development
- Promote compliance in diligently following all company policies and regulations and in being the role model of integrity and pride for all employees.
- Proactively communicate with the team to ensure continuous awareness and understanding of policies and regulations.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the Trade Compliance Manager and support all compliance efforts and trainings.
- Collaborate with regional Road, Air, Ocean and Service Provider Managers in relation to network relevant projects, opportunities and compliance.

- Support IS Strategy within GNS & Cartage the rollout of Corporate System updates
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:
Knowledge:
- Expeditors company policies and procedures knowledge
- A good understanding of Expeditors’ products, services and systems
- Strong market and competition knowledge
Skills:
- Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results.
- Fluency in English Language
- Strong Analytical skills – MS Excel and/or Power BI
- Proven negotiation skills

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Training Requirements:
- Meet company standards of 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training
Education and Experience:
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a ground operation developing / managing ground transportation, or five years in an Expeditors’ transportation product.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in managing cross-functional programs of more than $100MM and involving 30 or more internal / external customers
- Bachelor degree in Supply Chain, Transportation, Logistics or similar field or equivalent required preferred
