WAITSTAFF NA-03 RFT (All Sources)

Duties
Performs necessary preparations in assigned area prior to opening the dining room such as; setting the tables with cloths, silverware, glasses, condiments, napkins, and decorations.
Prepares back-up tables with such supplements as butter, ice, coffee, fruits, juices, salads, and breads.
Must be familiar with the menu for the day, offer suggestions if requested, record desired selections from guests and turn in the order for preparation to the kitchen.
Serves side dishes such as salads, fruit dishes, bread, or beverages.
May have to greet guests, show guests to their tables, control traffic to the dining room. May present menus to the guest for that meal service, if host/hostess assigned is busy or not working that current shift.
Responsible for removing dishes from guest tables after each course is finished or after the meal is completed. Cleans and sanitizes the table before resetting with the appopriate settings for that meal service, if assigned busser staff is unavailable or not scheduled for the current shift.
Sets up and cleans up catering events, Professional Military Education (PME), Welcome Aboard, Sunday Brunch, and other special events functions. This includes placing tableclothes on tables, setting up chauffuers, setting up drink stations, setting up plates and silverware, serving food and clearing plates, setting up and removing decorations.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as required. Must meet minimum age requirement.

Qualifications
2. Skill to serve beverages and meals in the proper manner and sequence.
3. Knowledge of proper food handling techniques.
4. Must obtain a Food Handlers Card (Occupational Health Card). Waitstaff NA-7420-03 HQJC# 93054A
5. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
6. Must be able to complete Controlling Alcohol Risks Effectively (C.A.R.E) to assure serving alcohol responsibly.
7. Must complete Cash Handling Training Course before handling fund and Refresher Course once per year.
8. Knowledge of basic math.
9. Excellent customer service skills and good communication skills orally and in writing.
Work requires the use of both arms, hands, and legs, and involves prolonged standing, walking, reaching, and light lifting. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance. Work is normally performed inside with adequate lighting and heat. Waiters are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and slippery floors when in the kitchen area.
