Embedded Software Engineer

Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++)
Location: Penang, Malaysia
Experience: 3-8yrs
Eligibility: Malaysians only
Availability: 30 days
Role Overview:
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will design and implement multi-threaded Object-Oriented Software in C++ to solve complex problems related to high-speed data processing and networking. You will collaborate with hardware designers and contribute to various stages of software development, including firmware build systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement scalable software modules using modern C++ design patterns
  • Develop Linux device drivers using C programming
  • Identify and improve low-level system performance issues
  • Create algorithms for controlling image acquisition and environmental conditions
  • Collaborate with hardware teams for board bring-up and debugging
  • Maintain and improve firmware build systems using Make and Python
  • Review peer code for compliance with standards
  • Estimate time and effort for implementation tasks
  • Work with Quality Assurance to identify test cases for new features
  • Mentor and coach junior developers
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electronics and Electrical
  • 5+ years of embedded development experience (3+ years for junior positions)
  • Strong skills in C and C++ for embedded applications
  • Understanding of operating system concepts (processes, threads, mutexes, etc.)
  • Experience with debugging tools and scripting languages
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Development experience in a Linux environment for ARM processors
  • Knowledge of low-level programming for hardware peripherals and drivers
  • Familiarity with embedded design considerations, including memory management and microprocessor architectures
  • Knowledge of digital imaging, audio, and video coding is a plus
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM11,000.00 per month
