(Associate) Scientist Polymer Synthesis and Formulation


to strenghten the scientists pool of the Biomedical division of dsm-firmenich. The new colleague will join the Advanced Synthesis and Formulation Development group to contribute to our drug delivery and medical coatings technologies but will also apply his/her knowledge and expertise in the other technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Support new product introduction and new process development by providing technical expertise in the areas of polymer synthesis and formulations.
• Translate the requirements of multidisciplinary project teams into scientific/technical objectives.
• Plan and execute experimental campaigns ensuring a solid research output. A scientific hands-on approach is required. The quality of the output should be such to be translated to pharmaceutical/medical products or related customer developments.
• Deliver scientifically-sound results. Experimental results are frequently and proactively communicated in project meetings and documented in the form of high-quality reports and data interpretation.
• Participate to the acquisition of new technical competences or lab equipment. Willingness and ability to coach technicians.
• Comply with utmost commitment with the Safety and Quality standards of our organization.

• Based on your experience we will offer you a base salary of € 50,490 to € 82,613 per year (including holiday allowance and 13th month) and extra benefits, such as 25 holiday days, a bonus, the option to buy more holiday days with a 6% my choice budget and much more.

You Bring

• HBO with 5+ years of experience or Academic degree (MSc or Ph D), in Chemistry, Materials Science, Pharmacy, or related scientific disciplines.
• Proven and active laboratory experience with polymer synthesis and characterization. Formulation experience is a strong plus, willingness to learn formulation science is required.
• A broad overview of relevant analytical and testing techniques (NMR, GPC, rheology, viscosity, HPLC, particle sizing) in the areas of polymer chemistry and formulations. Proven practical laboratory experience of material/formulation testing and (contributing to) testing method development.
• A resilient, result-oriented and hands-on attitude that fits our growing and ambitious organization. A curious, independent-thinking and team-oriented personality.
• Solid communication skills, written/spoken proficiency in English. Experienced in working in culturally diverse and multidisciplinary teams.
• Affinity with biomedical or pharmaceutical environments, as well as in Quality Systems regulated environments (e.g., ISO13485, c GMP).
