What you will do
The Finance Head – Veldhoven is responsible for overseeing the overall financial operations, including financial reporting, tax administration and financial control of the A.O. Smith in Europe. This includes ensuring that accounting records are maintained properly in accordance with the Company’s policies and the applicable Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAPs”). The Finance Head is also responsible for reviewing disbursements and other banking transactions for the Europe operations and ensuring proper control over Company assets, including funds and securities.
The Finance Head – Veldhoven directs and has immediate responsibility for accounting practices, the maintenance of fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports for A.O. Smith in Europe. This position also directs and has overall responsibility for general and property accounting, cost accounting, and budgetary controls of the corporation. The Finance head is responsible for appraising operating results in terms of costs, budgets, policies of operations, trends and increased profit opportunities.
The specific responsibilities of the Finance Head include but are not limited to the following:
  • Manage the day-to-day financial activities of the organization; control its financial resources and ensure that all financial transactions, systems and procedures comply with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
  • Activities may include: financial analysis and reporting; taxation; insurance; credit control; accounts payable and receivable; inventory and costs control; and budgeting and forecasting.
  • Analyze the organization’s revenues, liabilities, credit conditions, and other financial indicators to forecast its short, medium, and long-term cash flow position; evaluate and recommend investments and other financial instruments to meet these cash flow needs.
  • Advise management on financial matters and the impact of laws and regulations on the organization.
  • Prepare various management reports: reports may include auditor and financial analyst reports; profit and loss, balance sheets; and regulatory reports and filings.
  • Ensure all tax returns, declarations, and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Administer general accounting, property accounting and tax.
  • Consolidate capital assets and company operating budgets, check appropriation requests against approved budgets for availability of funds prior to commitment; and exercise accounting control to ensure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized.
  • Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the corporation and make specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.
  • Assume responsibility for the correct and accurate accounting classifications of all expenditures and documents, including capital and others.
  • Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, budgets, forecasts and plans, including the preparation of charts and graphs showing progress, conditions and results.
  • Certify vouchers for payment.
  • Select and manage relationships with consultants and advisors to ensure the satisfactory standards of service.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop financial staff.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
To the Head of Finance – Veldhoven, 3 employees report. You work closely with our Head of Finance in the UK; focus on similar way of working.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience or training
  • 2-3 years of supervisory / leadership experience
  • CPA, ACCA or other Accounting Professional certification preferred.

Work Conditions:
  • Base workplace will be Veldhoven, the Netherlands. A.O. Smith WPC BV has an office in France as well. Our EMEA business includes offices in the UK and Dubai.
  • Some international travel will be required.
  • Occasionally willing and able to support projects or facilitate services, and communicate outside regular office hours.
