Base Clear was founded in 1993, and ever since has been a pioneer in genomic analysis. We have been on the forefront of microbial genomics innovations and industrial applications. Base Clear offers a complete range of microbial genomics services for many applications including clinical trials wherein microbiome readouts are also part of results: metagenomics, meta transcriptomics, microbiome analysis and microbial strain characterization for regulatory approval.We are the partner of choice for many leading brands in various biotechnology industries such as pharma, personal care and hygiene, consumer health, food industry and human and animal health in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond. We are also proud to be located in the heart of the Leiden Bio Science Park in Leiden, one of the leading bioscience hubs in Europe.
For our scientific business department, we are looking for candidates for the position of:
Scientist viruses & bacteriophages
(32 – 40 hours per week)
Job:
You are our technical expert in viruses and bacteriophages. You play a crucial role in further developing this expertise within Base Clear. In this role, you will be part of an ambitious team of scientists with various technical backgrounds. You work closely together with the other scientists, as well as the commercial- and operational team. In this role, you provide scientific advice to our customers. You support the account managers with the quote process by providing technical advice. Furthermore, you support the operational colleagues with the execution of your projects in the lab. Lastly, you work on custom customer reports.
Profile:
Your carry a MSc in microbiology or related subject and a Ph D in the field of viruses/ bacteriophages. With over 8 years of experience in academia or industry, you have built a good network in the scientific community. You come with demonstrated project management experience and are known to have a positive spirit with the aim to always look for solutions. You always want to learn and develop yourself and can enjoy sharing your knowledge with others.

A challenging position in a biotech company, where the successful candidate will work in a highly motivated and ambitious team. Salary is dependent on candidates qualifications and experience. You are allowed to work from home for one day per week.
