  • Drive critical Generation asset lifecycle decisions
  • Great team culture, ongoing development opportunities
  • Impactful and highly visible role supporting the asset lifecycle
About us:
Genesis recently announced our new Gen35 strategy as we look to accelerate New Zealand's transition to a low-carbon future. We are undertaking a $1.1 billion investment programme in new renewable generation, to make Genesis 95% renewable by 2035 with around 8,300 GWh. In addition, we have set a target of reaching net zero as a company by 2040. With such a lofty mission and bold goals, we are on the lookout for the right talent to help us deliver.
About the role:
Be at the heart of key decisions that shape our assets' future as the Asset Strategy Engineering where you will create and manage asset management plans for generation assets, delivering strategic investment opportunities. You will review and refine Equipment Asset Management Plans, focusing on asset health, criticality, condition, and lifecycle milestones.
As an expert in asset lifecycle management, you will develop and implement strategies to ensure assets meet business objectives, working closely with internal teams and external providers. Key responsibilities include leading feasibility studies, promoting design improvements, and integrating new assets through scope development, risk assessment, and budget planning.
You will provide engineering support for cost-benefit analyses and project justifications, collaborate with key stakeholders, and lead refurbishment or replacement strategies by identifying asset enhancements and new technologies to support investment decisions.
About you:
You will excel at evaluating information, identifying options, and selecting solutions that align with business needs. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll articulate engineering risks and issues, ensuring decisions support the overall business strategy. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded engineer with broad experience with a flexible and adaptable approach, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Other key qualifications will ideally include:
  • Engineering degree and/or relevant industry qualification
  • Experience in asset management within heavy industry
  • Exposure to the generation industry, particularly hydro and thermal generation
  • Awareness of ISO 55000 series
This role is based primarily in Hamilton, with occasional short-term travel to other sites. Flexibility to travel is required.
Our culture:
At Genesis, we offer our staff a strong remuneration and benefits package, a collaborative, fun culture, and ongoing development opportunities. You will work in a dynamic, close-knit environment, under supportive management, with a real opportunity to learn from some industry experts. Join a dynamic team that champions growth, with continuous learning and development opportunities.
