Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Te Kaupeka Ture | Faculty of Law invites applications for two fixed term, part-time (18.75 hours per week) positions of Kaiāwhina Pūkenga | Assistant Lecturer.
The Faculty is seeking applicants with expertise in the following areas:
- Tikanga Māori,
- Indigenous Peoples and Legal Theory
- Treaty of Waitangi (in particular, Treaty Jurisprudence)
- Māori Governance
- Pacific Legal Systems
- Pacific people and the Law in Aotearoa New Zealand
Mōu | Who You Are
You will be a highly motivated law graduate, postgraduate, or practitioner who wishes to move into academia. As Kaiāwhina Pūkenga | Assistant Lecturer, you will ideally have some experience tutoring or leading workshops.
Applicants should have research level knowledge or practice experience in one or more of the specified areas, or a strong interest in gaining this. In addition, applicants should demonstrate a willingness to undertake an advanced qualification in Law during their appointment. . A high-level understanding of tikanga and te reo Māori and/or strong connections to the Pacific communities and in-depth understanding of Pasifika culture is desirable. The applicant will show ability to work and teach in a way that is biculturally competent, will work well within diverse cultural environments and provide a positive contribution to the administration of the Faculty and the University more generally.

This role sits within the Academic Staff, Associated Staff and Academic Support Staff Collective Agreement and the following salary scale applies: Assistant Lecturer 1.05 $72,433 - 1.08 $80,090
