Situated in the town centre of the infamous “windy city”, and a short stroll to funky cafes, incredible shopping, and the beautiful Wellington harbour, the Travelodge Hotel Wellington is recruiting a reliable and passionate kitchen professional for the role of Commis Chef (part-time).

About the role….
As a Commis Chef, you are an important team member in the flow and efficiency of the kitchen. You take direction and guidance from the CDP, or Head Chef/Executive Chef – the whole time developing your skills and learning more and more about the workings of a busy hotel kitchen.

Key responsibilities (not limited to):

• Working with the guidance of a senior chef, all food preparation, presentation and cooking techniques are carried out according to the established recipes, policies and procedures.
• Making sure the correct storage and labelling of all food items, using strict hygiene and safety procedures are always adhered to.
• Assist with the cleaning of utensils and equipment

About you….

• Previous experience in a kitchen from a hotel environment
• Relevant culinary qualifications (essential)
• Knowledge of food safety requirements
• Strong time management and organisation skills
• Ability to understand and follow instructions
• Passionate about food and produce
• Self-motivated, well-presented and punctual
• Thrives working as part of a team or independently.
