Expression of Interest: Interim Hospital Co-Commissioner

Health New Zealand has recently concluded consultations for an interim role of Hospital Co-Commissioner (12-month fixed term). This position aims to drive excellence in management, support, and oversight of Health NZ's hospital service commissioning function, directly contributing to enhancing overall performance across our health system.
Reporting to the National Director of Planning, Funding, and Outcomes, this role collaborates with a network of internal and external services, teams, and agencies. The responsibilities include leading processes to allocate up to $9 billion in funding to Hospital and Specialist Services, developing service volume schedules, monitoring patient flows, and assisting services in improving their performance to meet health targets. Key accountabilities include conceptualizing, engaging, and implementing services that address population health needs, as well as planning for future service capacity and campus requirements.
We seek individuals with 10-15 years of executive-level experience in private or public organizations, demonstrating strong leadership in commissioning, system change, and improvements.
