Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity for a Dietetic Critical Care Educator has been made available. This role will be responsible for developing and overseeing education and coaching within adult Dietetic critical care services across the Northern Region and provide “on the job training”, support and coaching for the Dietetic, Allied Health and wider Critical Care workforce. It is expected that this role will work in close collaboration with the other Allied Health Critical Care Educators and the Principal Allied Health Critical Care Educator across the region.
This Dietetic Educator role will be based at Te Toka Tumai at Auckland City Hospital and provide support across all adult critical care units in the Northern Region. This role will be supported by the Clinical Lead. In this role you will:
  • Provide clinical support to members of the dietetic, wider Allied Health and Critical Care teams
  • Provides clinical education, coaching and mentoring to the dietitians working within the critical care service
  • Role models high standard of clinical professional practice when working alongside staff or students
  • Promotes an environment which optimises patient safety, independence, quality of life and health. Includes attention to cultural safety, health and safety, infection control and risk management.
  • Assist staff, particularly new graduates, new employees or return to practice to be competent and confident in their role, to do so via observation, formal audit, and supportive verbal and written feedback and facilitate conversations in a constructive way
  • Assist those in clinical education/supervision roles to manage students / workload
  • Role model advanced skill in areas of expertise as well as professional practice in all aspects of the role.
The Principle Educator role within the regional group of Allied Health Critical Care Educators will lead the coordination and collaboration across the interdisciplinary team, critical care units and region.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
  • New Zealand Registered Dietitian with a current Annual Practicing Certificate, that is endorsed with Dietitian Prescriber
  • At least five years of post-graduate clinical experience working within within a critical care service
  • Clinical education experience
  • Drive, energy and initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management, flexibility, prioritisation and organisation skills

The remuneration for this position is covered by a collective agreement (PSA Allied, Public Health and Technical MECA)
Salary Range: Step DB 2 $116,500 to DC3 $124,000 (Depending on experience)
