Energy Systems Modeller
Auckland
FULL TIME
August 29, 2024
Job Description
Want to work somewhere where you are doing good for the world, your community and yourself at the same time?
Whatever your role at Vector, we’ll stretch you to find solutions for some of the world’s biggest challenges. And they don’t get much bigger than redesigning our energy future for a world of EV’s and home solar generation to help mitigate the impacts of climate change.
If you want to do a power of good for yourself and the world, consider a career at Vector.
The role
The role of Energy Systems Modeller sits within the Network Infrastructure Data and Analytics team, with a heavy focus on analytics, research and modelling related to energy systems and the energy transition.
The role works closely with adjacent business functions, as well as the Customer and Corporate domain, to support Vector’s response to the energy transition. This includes identifying and assessing business requirements and, in turn, supporting the development and operational delivery of data products, services and research to satisfy them.
This role will support and operate key scenario models which inform decisions driving short- and long-term planning of the electricity network in Auckland. It will also support analysis and investigations into uncharacteristic asset/network behaviours.
You can look forward to the sort of satisfaction that comes with knowing you’re playing an integral part in Vector achieving our Symphony Strategy, informing critical decision-making and keeping the lights on and homes warm across Auckland whilst driving a sustainable new energy future.
Who are we looking for?
- You’ll hold a qualification in a related discipline such as engineering, statistics, mathematics, data science etc
- You’ll have a wealth of energy-specific knowledge and understanding, including energy systems modelling and the energy transition
- You’ll have a track record of conducting, collating and analysing research, and translating this into a model
- You’ll be experienced coding, running and interpreting multi-variant models
- Your relationship building, stakeholder management and communication skills will be key assets and central to your success
- Experience with geospatial modelling and risk-based modelling would be an asset
Whether it’s the opportunity to work on challenges on a truly global scale in collaboration with leading technology firms, or to build a legacy for Auckland and New Zealand through your work; or perhaps to work in an innovative and transformative sector, or our commitment to supporting your development, there’s a myriad of reasons to choose a career with Vector.
