The Opportunity
We are looking for an Environmental Officer to join our Compliance Monitoring team on a full time, permanent basis in our busy Dunedin office.
The purpose of the role is to provide professional, legally and technically sound services to the Council for Resource Consent auditing under the main legislation the Otago Regional Council is responsible for.
As an Environmental Officer, you will be responsible for:

• Undertaking auditing and assessing compliance with resource consents
• Promoting compliance through the provision of sound advice and information to the public
• Giving presentations to the public to aid in their understanding of, and compliance with, statutory responsibilities of the Council
• Responding to pollution complaints
• Collaborating with other Environmental staff to develop and maintain processes for quality assurance checking as required.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental sciences, Geography/Geology/Biology/Chemistry related fields
• Risk management experience and experience working for a regional council or other regulatory organisations.
• Experience in data capture and analysis.
• A current full drivers' licence
• Strong inter-personal skills and an ability to relate to a variety of people combined with a strong customer focus.
