The Opportunity
The Legal team at the Otago Regional Council is on the lookout for an Official Information & Legal Support Advisor to join them on a permanent, full or part-time basis in our Dunedin office.
The purpose of the role is to provide effective, high-quality administrative and technical support to the ORC's Legal Counsel.
As an Official Information & Legal Support Advisor, you will be responsible for:
  • Providing advice and assistance with procurement as well as drafting contracts
  • Building relationships with staff to understand departmental needs and provide support with compliance
  • Efficient and accurate administrative support to Legal Counsel
  • Coordinating and responding to LGOIMA and Privacy Act requests

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience providing legal support in a complex environment
  • An understanding of local government legislation and/or procurement processes
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines, combined with great attention to detail
  • Confidence in providing training to staff on compliance responsibilities
  • A Bachelor of Laws or a related subject or Legal Executive Diploma is preferred but not essential


About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

  • High School qualifications to year 13 is essential
  • Experience working with databases and computers
  • Strong organisational skills and processes
  • Ability to work in a complex work environment, deal with ambiguity and across functions
  • Good practice environmental management skills
