The Opportunity
The Environmental Implementation team at the Otago Regional Council is on the lookout for a Catchment Advisor to join them on a permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week) basis in either the busy Wanaka, Queenstown, or Cromwell area.
The purpose of the role is to implement 'on the ground' initiatives and approaches to support engagement, solutions, and progress to achieving better environmental catchment outcomes.
As a Catchment Advisor, you will be responsible for:

• Supporting individuals and communities to proactively resolve contentious issues and environmental concerns
• Assisting with the delivery of Council's environmentally focused projects and plans
• Monitoring and reporting on the outcomes of catchment programmes
• Develop and deliver campaigns and tools and service to support education initiatives

About You
Our ideal candidate will have:

• Tertiary qualification in a related field, such as agriculture, geography, environmental management, planning, or science communication
• A current, full and clean Driver's License, with competency driving manual and off-road vehicles
• Confidence working with and influencing rural and urban communities and landowners
• Managing delivery of actions and projects
• Experience creating and implementing creative solutions, along with managing delivery of actions and projects
• An understanding of agricultural processes and rural issues
