About the role – Kōrero me the tūranga
The Governance and Management Support Team Lead will lead the team that manages the secretariat and management support functions for our National Council, National Board, Executive Leadership Team and senior leader cohort. They will also be the steward of New Zealand Red Cross statutes and policies.
In this role, you will:
- Manage the secretariat function for National Council and National Board;
- Coordination of Board and Committee meetings, agenda, minutes and National Board and National Council papers;
- Oversee and lead the logistics and planning for the annual National Council event, including the official components for the Annual General Meeting;
- Ensure information and papers are distributed in accordance with the New Zealand Red Cross Constitution and Regulations;
- Manage the secretariat function for the Executive Leadership Team and senior leaders cohort;
- Ensure smooth and efficient running of the Office of the Secretary General;
- Manage logistics and support for Executive Leadership Team meetings and Away Days and Senior Leader Hui;
- Lead and manage a team of Management Support staff, ensuring they meet the needs of the organisation and General Managers while overseeing their performance, training, and development;
- Coordinate and maintain organisational statutes (Constitution and Regulations) and the policies library.
To be successful, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification or similar;
- A minimum of 5 years providing support at an executive level or working with executives and/or boards;
- Demonstrated project management experience;
- Demonstrated event management experience;
- Experience managing people / teams;
- Strong understanding of issues within membership and volunteer-based organisations, especially with a humanitarian focus;
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong relationship management skills;
- High attention to detail, ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point;
- Ability to tactfully manage sensitive situations, demonstrate emotional intelligence, and adapt to changing priorities;
- Enthusiasm for and commitment to the work of New Zealand Red Cross.
