Kairuruku Hinengaro - Māori Mental Health Practitioner - Spring Hill

As part of Ara Poutama's dedication to transformative change, we aim to expand our team of Kairuruku Hinengaro. We provide mental health support and treatment to our most vulnerable tangata in care. Your role within the broader multi-disciplinary team will involve delivering cultural support services to enhance the mental health and overall well-being of those under our care.
As a Māori Mental Health Practitioner, your responsibilities will encompass assessing the oranga needs of individuals from a whakapapa, hinengaro, wairua, and well-being perspective. You will engage in effective caseload management, cultural triage, assessments, and evidence-informed treatments aligned with mana whenua best practices. Additionally, you will provide cultural support, guidance, and coordination of Māori initiatives and operations to improve the well-being of those in our care.
This opportunity is ideal for a Māori Mental Health Practitioner who is committed to mentoring culturally safe practices and partnerships. Utilise your skills in te reo and tikanga Māori, Mātauranga Māori, and Rongoā Māori to enhance the effectiveness of services for those in our care. Our teams are dedicated to modeling expert practice, with a strong emphasis on the principles of Hokai Rangi - Humanising and Healing. This involves respecting the human dignity and inherent mana of all tangata in our care, along with their whānau.

He kōrero mōu | About you
Bringing proven proficiency in te reo Māori and ōna tikanga, rooted in a solid understanding of Mātauranga Māori, you'll showcase a track record of mentoring culturally safe practices and fostering partnerships. Your diverse cultural collaboration experience will be evident.
Demonstrating a committed approach to values-based and reflective practice, you'll exhibit a thorough understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for health, well-being, and equity, with a heightened awareness of the impact of colonisation.
Your expertise in trauma-informed care and a holistic approach to mental health will be highlighted, along with the ability to integrate indigenous methodologies and health models into practice. A strategic mindset and critical thinking abilities will contribute to your role.
Utilising hands-on experience in addressing acute and complex mental health and/or addiction issues, your excellent communication skills and proven ability to facilitate and negotiate effectively in both individual and group settings will be essential. Your active engagement in collaborative team efforts and adept handling of sensitive information will further underscore your suitability for this role.
Utu ā-tau | Salary
The full salary range is $65,956 - $86,066. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
