Laboratory Technician - Microbiology

We currently have an opportunity for a new Laboratory Technician to join our Hokitika based team in our microbiology lab. Working across a wide variety of dairy tests and products, you will pride yourself on your attention to detail and work only to the highest standards. Innovation and problem-solving abilities along with excellent organisational and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work confidently with computer systems. Whilst full training can be given, any previous experience working in a similar role and ideally working at (or on your way towards) Key Technical Personnel (KTP) level would be warmly welcomed.
Working on a 3 days on 2 days off roster (10hr shifts 7am-5pm) your responsibilities will include performing testing on final product within our quality assurance guidelines to meet our ISO 17025 accreditation. You will also learn the rationale behind the testing and then have the ability to troubleshoot a test or method if required. You will be working with state of the art equipment in a progressive and expanding company.
In summary, we are looking for someone who ideally has:

A tertiary science qualification, or a minimum of NCEA level 3 maths, science and English, or previous laboratory experience.
A strong desire to live and work in Hokitika
A high degree of motivation and an enthusiasm and passion for science and the role
A high level of attention to detail and the ability to use their initiative
Excellent communication and relationship building skills
