Auckland Council
Lead System Innovator - Healthy Families
Auckland
FULL TIME
November 5, 2024
- Collaborate with key partners to drive systems change, equity, and community wellbeing.
- Shape the future of Tāmaki Makaurau while working in a flexible, supportive environment
- 18 months fixed term, full-time opportunity (June 2026)
Join Healthy Families South Auckland as the Lead Systems Innovator, where you’ll not only drive systemic change and create sustainable health solutions but also champion systems thinking and innovation practice across the team. This is a pivotal role where you’ll empower communities to shape their own wellbeing while collaborating with key partners—local government, Māori and Pasifika leaders, and community organisations—to ensure equitable health outcomes for South Auckland. You’ll work in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Healthy Families NZ to create lasting impact across Tāmaki Makaurau.
In this role, you’ll contribute to innovative solutions that drive systems change, creating healthier, more resilient communities for future generations. You’ll lead by example, inspiring the team and stakeholders to embrace new ways of thinking and working to deliver meaningful health initiatives.
- Leading and coordinating health initiatives focused on nutrition, physical activity, and reducing tobacco and alcohol use, with an emphasis on cultural relevance.
- Building strong relationships with Māori, Pasifika, and local organisations to drive collective impact and empower communities to take charge of their health.
- Supporting the implementation of Māori health frameworks and integrating mātauranga Māori into health promotion practices.
- Delivering culturally aligned, community-led health initiatives that promote lasting change.
- Ensuring initiatives are inclusive, accessible, and relevant to the diverse needs of South Auckland communities.
He kōrero mōu: About you
To succeed in this role, you will have a deep understanding of health promotion and prevention, with a particular focus on systems change that benefits our Māori and Pasifika communities. You’ll be driven by a commitment to improving whānau health, reducing inequities, and creating lasting positive change for South Auckland.
Your expertise in Māori and Pasifika health, combined with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by these communities, will ensure that the strategies you develop reflect the cultural values and knowledge of our people. The ability to build strong community partnerships will be key to fostering collaborative action, and you will work alongside Māori and Pasifika leaders to ensure their perspectives are integrated into the health initiatives you lead.
You will also be comfortable with flexible working arrangements and hold a current New Zealand driver’s licence.
Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer
At Auckland Council, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of Tāmaki Makaurau. As one of the largest local authorities in the South Pacific, we serve over 1.5 million people, and you will help lead the charge in improving health outcomes across the region. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference to the health and wellbeing of Māori and Pasifika communities, guiding the future direction of health initiatives in South Auckland.
You’ll thrive in a workplace that values whanaungatanga (relationship-building), manaakitanga (care and hospitality), and ako (learning), where flexibility and wellbeing are prioritised. Join a team of passionate professionals committed to creating positive, lasting change for our communities.
