Auckland Museum is a much-loved culture and heritage organisation at the heart of Auckland's identity, committed to outstanding management of its world-class collections, developing and sharing engaging content through its galleries, exhibition, events, educational programmes and the permanent and volunteer staff who tell the Museum's stories. Job Description
This is a meaningful opportunity to develop and deliver education programmes that inspire curiosity, increase accessibility, and strengthen young creative minds who are our potential future leaders from a Pacific worldview.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Fluent speaker of at least one Pacific language with cultural competency and knowledge of Pacific cultural practices
- Experience in growing relationships across Pacific education settings and communities
- Relevant tertiary degree in education, and/or museum studies, or related field.
- Working knowledge of the New Zealand education system and key policy documents such as the New Zealand Curriculum refresh, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, Aotearoa Histories, Action Plan for Pacific Education 2020 to 2030, Tapasā, Ka Hikitia, Tātaiako, Ministry statement of strategic intent, and the new key web-based resources such as Tāhūrangi
- Expertise in developing and delivering education programmes within a GLAM institution
- Two to three years experience in the education and/or GLAM education sectors.
- Working knowledge and broad familiarity with current trends and events in popular culture, museums, and learning and digital technologies
- A clean driver’s license essential Has a high degree of integrity and professionalism, as our Learning Specialists are advocates for the Museum locally, regionally, and nationally
